Lately I go for drives and listen to that radio, especially to listen to Len Tillam and Dr Dean Adel, because they make me laugh, and laughing is important when you have postpardum depression. Thanks for taking that away from me.
Also, just so you know, we are not rich, and I stick a dollar here and a dollar there in that little yellow box you took. It took me a month to save that $4.79 or so that you took.
Those car chargers... I waited months to get those, because we couldn't afford it if we were going to go see my family for Christmas. I waited and waited, saving up cash on the side just so I could pay for it in cash. In the mean time we used a crappy one that kept blowing fuses in my car. Thanks Asshole.
The bag that you took, likely to put your ill gotten gains in was made for me, and it can't be replaced. It was my perfect school bag. I hope that when you give it to someone you love, you feel good about how you got it.
The topper to the cake though is taking my registration. I hope you get pulled over with it in your car, and that you get caught. You took things that mean more to me than you could ever think, because for the first time in a long time I was saving and doing without so I could get the things I actually needed instead of wanted. That radio was my therapy on my tough days. Thanks for leaving me helpless.
Oh, yeah, and the East Palo Alto police are not helpful.

Mercury News Article

San Jose police pursuing armed robbery suspects in East Palo Alto

By Sean Webby

<p class=""Byline" affiliation"="">Mercury News

Article Launched: 10/07/2008 06:25:26 PM PDT

Police
were conducting a massive manhunt for a pair of armed robbery suspects
in East Palo Alto Tuesday evening, after chasing them up the Peninsula
before the men crashed their getaway van and ran off.

The search
tied up traffic along Highway 101 in both directions and had police
warning that the men were armed and dangerous and urging the public to
call 911 if they spotted them.

The men robbed Clyde's Liquor Store at 3963 Snell Avenue in San Jose around 3:13 p.m., police said.

A police patrol unit saw the suspect's 1996 Dodge minivan near Highway 101 and Montague Expressway and began a pursuit.

The
suspects exited University Avenue toward East Palo Alto, crashed their
vehicle near the Ravenswood School District office Donahue Street and
ran off, according to police. A Ravenswood School District official
said the men jumped out of the car while it was still moving.

Police
say they found a semi-automatic Uzi-like weapon in the car but believe
one of the suspects still had another weapon used in the robbery.

As
of 6 p.m., police had set up a perimeter near the crash site and were
searching for the suspects. At one point police had close to 90
officers looking for them. Police did take a woman into custody who may
have been involved in the robbery as a getaway driver.

One of the
men was described by police as black, about 25 to 30 years-old, about 6
feet-tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black beanie, a black jacket and a white
T-shirt and blue jeans. The other suspect was black man, about 5 feet 7
inches, with a thin build and dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a
white T-shirt and dark jeans.
Anyone with information on the
crimes can contact the San Jose police robbery unit at (408) 277-4166.

Olivia and I walked by the waterfront, and enjoyed ourselves.

Then his plane took off, and so we left.

This is what we came home to:

Our entire neighbourhood was blocked off. It was not fun. They were searching from house to house looking for these people who robbed something or other in San Jose. They chased them to East Palo Alto. Our roommate was sleeping and wouldn't answer her phone, so they entered my house with guns drawn. That was pretty scary.

The Untouchables of America

You see them nearly every day. They were likely born to families with homes and I'm sure nearly all of them went to school growing up. Some of them had great jobs, and families. They never drempt of being homeless when they grew up, but they are.
Wednesday night I went and saw a musical with N and her sister and nephew. It was late when I drove back to EPA, but I needed to get gas anyway. At 1:45am I pulled into the gas station on the corner of University and Donohoe. I made sure to make eye contact with the clerk, and then I began pumping gas in the well lit lot. I am a cautious person. I had locked my doors, and only had my check card out. A man came up to the hood of my car and asked to wash my windows. I told him I didn't have any cash, and he said that was okay, he'd wash them for me anyway. We got to talking, and he told me his name was Wally. He had lost his job, and had a few thousand in savings. He thought it would last him a long time, but it didn't. Instead it only lasted 9 months and he's been homeless for about a year now. I bid him goodbye, but I couldn't stop thinking about him.
Today I got out that homeless care package I had made, and I took out a grocery bag and filled it with bottled water, some rice cakes, graham crackers, cans of salmon, wet wipes, dried fruit, some bananas, a couple of Mangos, a note pad and a couple of pens. I went over to the gas station and sure enough, he was there washing windows. I called him over, and told him I had a couple of things for him. He told me that from now on, he's doing my windows for free. :) He also said that he does yard work and that he used to paint houses professionally.
I would love to do more for this community, and maybe Wally is a person (and place) to start with. I put up an add on freecycle.org for warm clothing and hygene products. Maybe we can get enough together to do something with for these people. I plan on taking Wally a couple of pieces of fruit or maybe a sandwich or something every time I get gas. It isn't much for us, the "working class", to do for others, considering we can always buy food when we're hungry.
Just a thought. If you'd like to help, let's chat about it.

People don't think

I was putting Olivia down for a nap and someone knocked at my door. I thought it was my neighbours, so I didn't rush to answer it. Recently I washed my phone, so now it doesn't ring anymore. As I was about to go to the door, I wanted to see the time on my phone, and my neighbour was calling me. I answered and he says, "Amy - did you tell the people in the white truck that they could take your wires?" My response was, WHAT? I opened the front door and these people had loaded wires Jason took off the house and left in the GATED drive way in their truck. I yelled, "Excuse me! Excuse me!"
As they were about to drive away, and the woman in the passenger seat saw me and she said, "He knocked."
I said, "But you didn't ask! You can't just assume that if no one answers the door, it is okay to take it anyway."
"Well, is it okay?"
"Now it is, but next time you need to ask."
It made me really upset. I might understand if it was on the outside of the fence, or if we didn't have no tresspassing signs up, or if they were under 25 and didn't quite grasp the concept of consequences for steeling - but we have those things, and these people were over 40. Once your past 25 or at most 30, you really should have a grasp on societal rules. If you steal, pretty much, you're a loser.

I accidentally threw my phone in the washing machine...

nuff said.
I have better days being Mommy than others

I love my daughter. She is beautiful. I love when she smiles, and coos or "sings". I love how snuggly she is and how she looks up at me with her big blue eyes when she's eating. She's SO beautiful. I love her scent, and how warm she is. Her little fingers and toes... singing to her... taking baths with her. I love all of it. Dressing her... holding her while she sleeps. WSatching her try to figure things out. I can go on and on about her.... but - I HATE how she screams and screams and when there is nothing left to do for her she continues screaming. I hate how it makes me feel. It makes me want to scream! I get angry, and that scares me. All I can do is put her down in her crib, close the door and try to calm myself and PRAY THAT SHE STOPS! I am not looking forward to when she begins teething. It will be horrible.
Now to go back to a screaming baby...

How many entries have I titled UGH?

Well, here is another. They canceled my class after I have bought my books and parking pass. I want to cry. I'm not supported, or believed in, and while I love staying home with my daughter, I want to have a plan for later. I want to be advancing myself now so that later I can do something. I want to have some control of my life. I'm tired of being told I am ridiculous and that my thoughts, feelings and plans are too. UGH. I hate (insert). Lots of people wished me a good one on face book and via text message - which I loved! Thanks! Jason gave me a sewing machine which I am both SUPER excited about and terrified of! I need to learn how to use it. I am trying to discipline myself though and get everything done around the house that I need to before I play with it. Jason also got me a Sunset Western Garden book! It's pretty sweet! He planned a dinner at California Pizza Kitchen for me with the help of Kelly - thanks Kelly! Then we went to Build a Bear where I built one to look like Jason, and he recorded his voice into it so it says "I love you"! :) So to be a total dork: IT WAS DA BESTEST BIRFDAY EVAHR!
